Excelsior Diamond

The Excelsior Diamond was discovered in 1893 at the Jagersfontein Mine. It was picked up by a worker who handed it to the Mine Manager. He was compensated for this with a cash reward, a horse, a saddle and bridle. Up until 1905 with the discovery of the Cullinan Diamond, this was the largest diamond known to man at 995.2 carats. It possessed the forementioned blue-white color charateristic of the finest Jagersfontein diamonds, especially cleavages, and was of very fine quality, although there were a number of internal black spots, another Jagersfontein characteristic. The shape of the stone was out of the ordinary: flat on one side and rose to a peak on the other, somewhat like a loaf of rye bread. Apparently this is what inspired the diamond to be named 'Excelsior', meaning higher. It's produced with high quality cubic zirconia  and cut by our skilled and experienced master, if you are looking at excelsior diamond replica, you are right here, the following pictures are cubic zirconia replica of excelsior diamond.
